Soccer

GOOD FOR YOUR BODY, GOOD FOR YOUR MIND.

THERE ARE PRETTY GOOD REASONS WHY SOCCER IS THE WORLD’S BIGGEST SPORT. ACCORDING TO FIFA, OVER 265 MILLION PEOPLE ALLOVER THE WORLD REAP THE BENEFITS OF THIS SPORT. NOT ONLY IS IT FUN,FAST-PACED, AND FULL OF PASSION; IT’S ALSO GOOD FOR YOUR MIND,BODY, AND SOCIAL LIFE!

HELPS YOU KEEP A HEALTHY WEIGHT
A typical 90-minute soccer game can be a real calorie torcher. It’s a high intensity aerobic activity due to the sprinting, dodging, and kicking that goes on.

Most players run an average of 4 to 7 miles in just one match! This helps players maintain a healthy weight, decreasing their risk for heart disease, diabetes, some cancers, and any other illnesses. Even better, a healthy weight will keep you looking good. And feeling and looking good results in improved self-esteem, confidence, mood, and outlook.

NORMALIZES BLOOD PRESSURE
Although all forms of exercise are good at keeping you heart healthy, soccer has been proven to be especially helpful when it comes to hypertension. Research conducted by the Universities of Exeter and Copenhagen and Gentofte University Hospital in Denmark found that playing soccer is the best way for people with high blood pressure to normalize their blood pressure and reduce their risk of stroke.

GOOD FOR CHILDRENS’ DEVELOPMENT
As children are developing, children need to participate in activities that will help them develop skills they will need throughout their life. In early childhood, gross motor skills – the movements that involve the large muscles of the body – are especially important. Soccer is a great way toddlers can practice these skills by running and kicking the ball. It’s also a very good way for children to improve their eye-hand coordination, agility, and endurance.

SOCCER IS A LIFETIME SPORT
The US Youth Soccer Association calls soccer a “lifetime sport.” And that’s a pretty good way to put it. If you learn to play as a child, you can continue enjoying the sport throughout your life. Many people spend all of their life reaping its benefits, moving going from youth to adult and finally to senior leagues.

GREAT FOR YOUR SOCIAL LIFE
Everybody needs friends and soccer is a great way to find them. Playing in a team offers the opportunity to get to know people and make new friends. Soccer practice and matches become a great way to blow off steam, de-stress, and get support from your teammates. For children, it’s also a great way for
them to learn how to be part of a team, respect others, and good sportsmanship.

Jumpstart your Child’s Development with Little Toros Academy

Introducing your children to exercise early in their childhood is one of the best things that you can do for their future. Our Little Toros Academy provides a great opportunity to give your children an early start in living a healthy and active lifestyle. Our program was designed to develop toddlers’ skills so they are able to reach their developmental milestones. Only 50 minutes a week, twice a week will make a very visible impact in your child’s development.

Why Start Soccer Early?
Soccer is the most played sport in the world and continues increasing in popularity. Chances are, your child will be invited to play with friends, schoolmates, or co-workers throughout their lifetime. Getting an early start will help them master skills to succeed in this game. Few exercise activities are as engaging and entertaining to toddlers as soccer. It’s also unique because it improves skills in every area of their development:

Physical Development
The running, passing, catching, kicking, and blocking that takes place in soccer helps your child develop gross motor skills, which are whole body movements that are necessary to perform everyday functions. Playing at an early age also helps them develop good coordination, balance, eye-hand coordination, and endurance.

Emotional Development
Soccer also helps your child develop healthy self-esteem by providing opportunities in which he or she will feel accomplished. It’s also a great way for toddlers to start practicing self-discipline, dedication, and mental focus.

Social Development
The way your child interacts with others in their early years plays a very important role in their future relationships. Our Little Toros Academy allows your child to interact with other children, learn to share with others, follow rules, and respect others.

Healthy Attachment
Parent-child attachment is crucial during the first five years of a child’s life. Our program encourages parents to participate in the class. This is a great way for them to have fun and bond with children, while also getting some physical activity themselves.

Our New and Improved Little
Toros Academy After seeing how effective our Little Toros Academy has been in getting children started in this great sport, we decided to add classes and make our program even better.

We know offer classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 – 5:50 pm or 6:00-6:50pm. Coach Ivan has created a program that truly focuses on empowering children to fully develop and to instill a love for this sport.

Our fun-filled classes will keep your toddler entertained and looking forward to their next class. From toddler-size soccer balls and obstacle courses, we’ve taken care of every detail to make this program appropriate for your child’s age and size. 3 Years In The Valley With Our Anniversary Tournament

By | JAN- FEB-2016 ISSUE 4 | No Comments

It’s been an amazing three years for Plaza Sports Center and what better way to celebrate our third anniversary than with an Anniversary Tournament. Since our facility first opened its doors in December 12, 2012, our members and supporters have been a soccer family united by a strong passion for this sport. Our Anniversary Tournament was a great way to celebrate everyone’s hard work, dedication, and progress, while having fun together.

The tournament took place on December 12th and 13th. Over 50 teams participated in the event, including teams from all over the area and of course, our own teams. It was also the perfect opportunity to unveil our newly designed trophy, which was awarded to first & second place champions.

The biggest highlight of the tournament was the Grand Prize for the Men’s Open Category – an entry to the 5V5 Tournament in Vegas with hotel costs included! The 5V5 tournament is the largest amateur tournament in the world. Over 2,000 teams participate in this four-day tournament for a chance to win $35,000 in prize money and a trip to play in the 5V5 World Championship Tournament in Thailand. It’s an experience of a lifetime with live music bands and a custom-built soccer village right on the Las Vegas Strip.

Our winners also received our new trophy, champion t-shirts, and are
featured in this issue. Winners in the Youth Categories also received the new trophy and champion shirts.

Our Anniversary Tournament marked a huge milestone for Plaza Sports Center and the beginning of many more great things to come.
We wish the best of luck to our winning team in their participation in the 5V5 tournament in Las Vegas. Your Plaza Sports Center Family will be supporting and cheering you every step of the way!
